Singapore Day Three

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Since we were up late the previous night due to the night safari, we took it easy the following morning. The schedule was to visit the Science Center and the adjoining Snow City. We woke up a little later than usual, we left the hotel at around 9:30am already. We were supposed to go to the money changer, but they open at 10am, I figured there should be a money changer near the Science Center, and besides there are malls nearby, most malls have a money changer. Boy was I wrong! None of the malls have money changers. The nearest one. I was told, was a train station away. I called the Science Center if they accept credit card payments, they do, so the adventure continues…

We also watched a movie in the Omnimax cinema, it is just a cinema but the image is projected on a concave surface instead of flat. Not really a 3D experience.

Then we went to Snow City, Ami did not want to wear the jacket and the boots, because it does not fit her well. She and Glenn ended up moving out of the play area.

Singapore Day Two

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

I arranged to visit the more popular tourist destinations on weekdays, so that it will not be too crowded, unfortunately, I did not know that it was a week long school holiday in SG, so most of the students are out and about. I think schools also aranged to have their field trips on these dates so that classes will not be disrupted.

Sept. 7, Thursday, we went back to the Zoo, since we were not able to see everything the first time. Asside from the things that we failed to see last year, there are lots of new additions in the zoo, like the otter pond, and the fountain and rock garden beside it.

Here are some pictures taken in the zoo.

In the last picture, we were all surprised by Ami, she caught that butterfly herself. She didn’t want to let go of it, I had to press hard on the back of her palm to release it without damaging its wings.

We also went to the Night Safari, but since flash photography is not allowed, and we took the tram for safety, we were not able to take decent pictures :)

Singapore Adventures 2006

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

I thank God for giving us another opportunity to see more of His creations. This year we went back to Singapore to see those things we missed to see last year, and to go back to some places where the kids really had fun. And also, thank God for budget flights! Because it would have been really hard to raise enough money for a regular air fare.

We arrived there the night of Sept. 5. We just had enough time to eat dinner. So our adventures formally begins Sept. 6.

On our first day, we visited the Bugis area, where there are lots of flea markets. While I was looking around, inspecting the quality of the Singapore shirts for sale, I noticed that Glenn was having a conversation with a Hindu vendor, and the vendor was giving Ami something. I went up to Glenn and ask what it was all about, I thought that just like here the vendor will give the kid his product and he will charge the parent. But no, this vendor said that he just found Ami cute and that he is giving the thing as a gift. His gifts, a Singapore post card and a Merlion figurine. We are like, is he for real? A stranger giving gifts to another stranger? What’s the catch? But eventually, we chose to believe that there really are good people still existing in this planet.

This is the merlion figurine especially for Ami :).

After lunch we went to Wild Wild Wet, we’ve been there last year and we had fun, so we went back.
